October 5, 2011 – Mr. Douglas Wiltsie assumed leadership of Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) from Ms. Terry Watson. The Change of Charter ceremony was presided over by Ms. Heidi Shyu, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics & Technology). Ms. Terry Watson has served as Acting PEO EIS since May 2011 and will return to her previous position as Deputy PEO EIS. Prior to his assignment as PEO EIS, Mr. Wiltsie served as the Deputy Program Executive Officer for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and Sensors (DPEO IEW&S), with responsibility for the development, acquisition, fielding, and life cycle support of the Army’s portfolio of intelligence, electronic warfare, and target acquisition programs. Mr. Wiltsie has also served as the Assistant Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, and as the Deputy Project Manager, Objective Force at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Future Combat Systems. He held leadership positions at the Project Manager, Night Vision/Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition at the Night Vision Labs at Fort Belvoir, Va., and was chairman of a NATO working group. Mr. Wiltsie holds an M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mr. Wiltsie shared his thoughts on leading the PEO: “Enterprise Information Systems is one of the greatest opportunities I could ever ask for. I am excited about being here and becoming part of such a great team. [PEO EIS’] history of providing capability to soldiers is well known, and I know we will continue with that superior support.” Mr. Wiltsie also discussed the capabilities the PEO provides to the Army. “The success of the Army depends on the ‘basics,’ and one of those basics is the ability to communicate. The capabilities we provide with information technology are vast, and provide for the success of our Army. From the long haul communications, to the ERP programs, to Biometrics identity dominance -- every one of these systems impacts our soldiers, and our ability to provide products on time is critical to their mission.” PEO EIS develops, acquires, integrates, and deploys network-centric knowledge-based information technology and business management systems, communications, and infrastructure solutions through leveraged commercial and Enterprise capabilities for joint and Army war fighters. |
